After spending a considerable amount of time sunning ourselves, responsibly obviously, we hired a car & decided to explore the island. We drove around the entire coast from the East in Poste Lafayette where we stayed at the Radisson Blu along the coast in the North around to the Botanical Gardens and finally Port Louis which reminded me of a mini Cape Town.

The East coast going North. The most beautiful flowers, small harbours, bays and the odd beautifully constructed Hindu Temple. |
The massive trees along the roads, next to fields & fields of sugar cane. Coming across the occasional beautiful old building or monument so randomly placed, or not. |
The beautiful blue hues are evident everywhere |
More buildings & an exquisite temple that has been crafted so delicately |
This fascinating Botanical Garden with the lushest most gorgeous foliage |
The Trees were massive which puts things into prospective
The City of Port Louis, a combination of India, Cape Town & Indonesia - Very busy hustle and bustle |
The Port Louis Waterfront which was most definitely more for tourists & had elements from the Cape Town Waterfront |
The Mountains in the distance, the harbour & the city |
So all in all it was a wonderful experience & the one on one time with my lovely husband was worth it's weight in gold. In fact, if I didn't have these pictures as proof, I would have thought it was all a dream. I think that getting away to a foreign in-expensive land once a year with your partner for an adventure is a number 1 priority.....if you can throw in exotic at the same time, it is wonderful......
Well, I can always dream...and keep looking at the pics............
